There is no other city in the United States to start the study of the history's of American than Philadelphia, Pa. I feel so fortunate to have establish my artist studio in Philly, because I am able to have these unexpected necessary encounters like when last evening when I was on my way to my new framer who can grant all of my framing wishes at Vision Graphics: The very pleasant Proprietor Mr Bruce Hazany @visiongraphicsonline.com, to have one of my crochet cosmic mandala art works framed for a private collector, and to my pleasant surprise, The Museum of the American Revolution was directly across the street, door to door facing each other. This museum is diffinately on my list of museum resources to visit as I am conduction research on James Forten 1766 - 1842. An outstanding Free African American Family man, businessman, community supporter and abolitionist of the Atlantic Slave Trade and colonization.
This is a very young museum that opened April 17, 2017, the 242nd anniversary if the "shot heard 'round the world". From what I gathered from the website on online. This museum has a monumental collection of early American artifacts. I must add, the architecture of the brick building, the historical sculptural relief on the front of the build, and pedestrian landscaping has a very brilliant presence as a historical work of art. The exterior lighting on the building is the stunning icing and cherry on top, when the sun goes down.
I am really looking forward to finishing my present temporary public art installation, so I can spend a few weeks in this museum doing the research for my James Forten 2022 Craft Archive Fellowship. Plus I have been told by every research library where I am doing Forten research... and through @linked.com... from the the museum's President and CEO, Scott Stephenson, that there is going to be an exhibit titled BLACK FOUNDERS: The Forten Family of Philadelphia opening at the museum 2.11.2023 - 11.26.2023. Which I most certainly will be attending several times. Thank You so very much for reading this Post. I'm really looking forward to visiting and spending time in this museum...!!!
