Munker Illusion
Take a look at the three eyes in the images shown below.
Which colors do you see?
The answer may surprise you,
as all three eyes are actually same color: Purple.
Still not convinced?
Here is the same set of pictures again, this time including the original image.
? How does it work??---->>>> Munker Illusion
The blue, green and red stripes all tint the area around them in different ways, resulting in apparent color changes. The illusion relies on changing the stripes in the foreground and still works, even if you change the background color.
This example was developed by Dr, David Novick, a professor of engineering at the University of Texas at El Paso. This skewed perception of color is caused by a phenomenon known as the Munker-White’s illusion, which is based on the Bezold effect, named after German professor of meteorology Wilhelm von Bezold (1837-1907). Bezold discovered that a color may appear differently depending on its relation to adjacent colors
The Munker illusion occurs because of the framing color in the foreground which influences how we perceive the central circle. In other words, the color that we're perceiving the circles to be is 2 things. It's a mix of both the foreground framing color and the actual color of the circle.
So, in fact, we don't directly perceive the color of objects, but rather we make educated guesses about what the color is based on what surrounds the object. In fact, we make educated guesses about things in our lives every day.
Now, let's talk about how we can apply this framing principal in changing learner’s mind to adopt a positive mindset who is struggling on some of the complex learning situations.
Means that we need to be thoughtful about the way that we frame or design learning about complex situations
Application in Designing Learning :
?Step-1 : Understand the Learner's previous experiences with complex situation.
?Step-2 : Ask them about their general beliefs about situations.
?Step-3 : Now, present knowledge which is known to learner and then,
?Step-4 : Ensure interaction of unknown or complex content to be presented to learner in a micro-learning format.
How are you designing Learning Experience for some of the complex learning situation?

1 年Nice read, Gaurav. I think to observe the Manipulators understanding, can be a good learning experience. Although manipulation itself is not a good example of designer learning experience but understanding the psychology behind manipulation can be a good tool. Here are few ways 1. To understand the techniques used by some people to ethically influence behavior of other people 2. Be cautious of individuals who exhibit overly persuasive or involuntary behavior, To think and questioning the actions alignment with ethical principles and mutual respect. 3. Understanding behavior pattern 4. Trust but Verify your colleagues. Trust people with little amount of distrust 5. Regardless of others' behavior, maintain professionalism and integrity in all your interactions. There is no free lunch 6. Document Interactions
