Happiness in this world is highly relative. Some say they are happy and some say they are sad in the same situation and atmosphere. If we want to measure it quantitatively it is difficult since it is at the mental level and beyond that. Irony it is! People often wonder why happiness in this world is limited, transient and not as per our expectations and efforts. To answer that, we need to understand that the nature of this world is actually Dhukhalaya (place of misery). A place where we can not sustain for long term. If we explore this deepest secret, we can understand that the way creator of this universe, Lord Krishna has made this world, it is quite evident that he has not made this world for us to stay eternally. In reality, we are part and parcel of the supreme lord and our natural(constitutional) position is to be eternal servant of krishna living with him in his supreme abode(spiritual world). We are not meant to struggle here indefinitely. On contrary, most of the living entities in this world tries to enjoy though material means. But all efforts at the end go into vain. At max, the happiness in this world is futile, momentary and many times just an absence of misery(the void created by not having misery). Thus the fundamental issue lies in the definition of the world Happiness.
What is real happiness?
As a part and parcel of the supreme god, we as a spirit soul are meant to enjoy in association with god in his spiritual abode. Spiritual world is the place where there is not anxiety and misery. Fondly it is called as Vaikuntha in vedic scriptures. There are various forms of the lord and each form having different planet Vaikuntha. Unlike the material world wherein we need Sun to illuminate the universe, the Vaikuntha is naturally illuminated by the spiritual light(Brahmajyoti) emanating from the Lord. Millions and millions of Vaikuntha are created and maintained by the supreme lord infinitely. There is eternal happiness everywhere in Vaikuntha. All people busy in serving the lord and enjoy in his eternal service. Unlike the fundamental miseries and problems of this world birth, old age, disease and death the Vaikuntha does not have any of these issues. Everyone is ever young with spiritual body which is not subjected to death.
How to experience the highest form of Happiness?
Million dollar question is how do we serve the lord Krishna and get the ulimate happiness? The process is quite simple. We just need to chant his holy names and be happy. Yes, you heard it right. It is the easiest process for the people of Kaliyuga(where everywhere there is a quarrel). For the less intelligent people of this age (becoming material advanced is not becoming intelligent), god has simplified everything. Just chant and hear your own voice carefully and attentively. The transcendental sound vibration of Lord's holy name removes all inauspiciousness and brings real happiness. It is the same spark of spiritual happiness which is present in spiritual planets(Vaikuntha) eternally. Everytime we access this connection, we can feel the sublime pleasure.
Which Mantra to chant?
In vedic scriptures, various mantra are given according to the desire of the living entity. Even to chant the holy name of supreme lord krishna, there are thousands of mantra. However, most powerful mantra giving immediate benefit is Hare Krishna Mahamantra given by Lord Krishna in various holy books. Shri Chaintanya Mahaprabhu who was a renowned saint from Nabadwip(West Bengal, Bharat) taught us to chant this mantra daily(as much as possible). Anyone irrespective of the caste, creed, nationally, age, time, place and circumstances can chant this mantra. The only price we need to pay is having sincere attitude. If we follow this proven process of mantra meditation, we can easily achieve the goal of life(Krishna Prem or love of god).
Words from George Harrison (Famous Musician and Singer-Songwriter)
Everybody is looking for K???A. Some don’t realize that they are, but they are. K???A is GOD, the Source of all that exists, the Cause of all that is, was, or ever will be. As GOD is unlimited, HE has many Names. Allah-Buddha-Jehova-Rāma: All are K???A, all are ONE. By serving GOD through each thought, word, and DEED, and by chanting of HIS Holy Names, the devotee quickly develops God-consciousness. By chanting
Hare K???a, Hare K???a K???a K???a, Hare Hare Hare Rāma, Hare Rāma Rāma Rāma, Hare Hare
one inevitably arrives at K???A Consciousness. (The proof of the pudding is in the eating!)
The beauty of this mantra is that we can sing it with any tune. Do try to chant and share your experience.
