Cloud Computing is quickly being adopted by organizations and businesses to help increase profit margins by decreasing overall IT costs as well as provide clients with faster implementation of services. Most of the cloud service providers (CSPs) offer multitenancy to take advantage of associated economies of scale and pass on the savings to the user thus reducing their overall operating costs and indeed their TCO.
However, Multitenancy is like a double edged sword in the world of cloud computing and poses a unique set of security risks, which has yet to be fully acknowledged as a serious problem by policy makers and CSPs.
MULTITENANCY RISKS/CHALLENGES
The fundamental security issue with multitenancy is the very idea on which multitenancy is based upon; that is, multiple tenants sharing the same computer hardware. Following are the various risks introduced by the Multi-tenancy architecture:
