Multiple Flue Gas Streams
When trying to simulate fired heaters with multiple flue gas streams, you may be required to define one or more flue gas streams. These flue gas streams typically are joined to the main heater either upstream or downstream of the main heater convection section.
The flue gas streams are defined simply by specifying the temperature, flow rate and composition in terms of Mol% (Carbon Dioxide, Water, Nitrogen, Oxygen and Sulphur Dioxide).
The Heater560 program assumes that joining flue gases are perfectly mixed at the junction points and calculates a new overall flue gas temperature, flow rate, composition and enthalpy.
This is just another feature which provides some flexibility for our users to model these situations with a very clear, logical and accurate method.
In the future, Heater560 will perform ducting pressure loss calculations in order to also model these situations from a draft pressure loss perspective. As we continue to develop this aspect of the program, users will ultimately be able to model complex multiple heater ducting systems and perform overall draft analysis of the complete system as a whole.
