On June 20, 2024, Cove Team members Shanna & Alex will be participating in the sold-out Multi Grouse Grind Challenge, which is the official and only sanctioned event to determine the record-holder for most ascents of the Grouse Grind in a one-day period! Although they don’t plan on breaking any records, they’re in for quite the day.
From dawn to dusk, they’ll join hundreds of other Grinders on the longest day of the year. Each ascent of Grouse Mountain is approximately 2.5km’s and 800m of elevation gain. Shanna will be aiming to beat her result from last year, which saw her complete 6 ascents throughout the day (that’s a whopping 4,800m of climbing!), while this will be Alex’s first time participating. While this is a difficult physical challenge, it’s also an incredibly important event that raises valuable funds for North Shore Rescue as all registered participants must raise a minimum of $100.
North Shore Rescue is a volunteer community-based search and rescue team providing a life-saving service to the public, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. As dedicated mountain enthusiasts, Shanna and Alex are ardent supporters of North Shore Rescue and deeply appreciate all the organization does for the community.
