Multi-club ownership, the marketing benefits and the Seattle Sounders’ showcase
Professional sport every day will get used to the term Multi-club ownership (MCO),an U.S. tendency, with different successful sports holdings with many sports. teams.
Good examples are Fenway Sports Group that owns Boston Red Sox from MLB and Liverpool from Premier League; Glazer Family, who owns Tampa Bay Buccaneers from NFL and Manchester United from Premier League.
European and now Latin American Football are also part of this scenario and have enormous adherence, aroused interest of U.S. tycoons. ?
For the U.S. reality, the European teams are still cheap, the Latin Americans almost free...
Management scale
The gains are many, from cost reduction to improve athletes’ transfers, adoption of standardized methodologies, and numerous gains in scale. Not to mention the marketing potential, by millions of fans in different parts of the planet and possible managerial alliances between the teams.
The most emblematic case in Europe and other continents today is the City Football Group (CFG) which already has more than 10 teams
There are still other examples such as Red Bull, Eagle Football Holding, 777 Partners, and others
After US$ 2.5 billion of Chinese investment in European football, there have been government changes and the investment must go to China.
This opened a space for new investors, especially from the U.S.
According to CIES Sports Intelligence, the number of teams that are part of a multi-club ownership model has increased profoundly.
And this movement has the presence of U.S. capital in European football.

The Seattle Sounders′ showcase
The Seattle Sounders had a book published. telling’ team′s management story and I had the opportunity to participate in the Brazilian edition, with the book′s afterword.
I read the material twice and became impressed with everything that occurred for the Sounders management success.
One of the key factors in that moment, that boosted the early success was being able to count on the Seattle Seahawks′ management team.
A soccer team with all marketing, ticketing, sales, customer service from a powerhouse team, from NFL.
Paul Allen, Seattle Seahawks′ owner entered in the business and that was a key point, not for the financial aspects, but managerial.?
The billionaire's entry as a minority partner, put employees from marketing, management and ticket sales departments accustomed to the NFL, for a soccer team that had just joined MLS. All this counted in the book.
Seattle Sounders is currently valued by Sportico at US$ 725 million

1 年Bem legal o artigo, Amir Somoggi. Importante o presen?a do Brasil nesse mapa.
