Multi-agent AI Is Changing the Game. How Are You Putting It to Work?

The TechEx Global event in London earlier this month was a great opportunity for business and technology leaders to connect. In its full capacity, the event brought together 200 speakers across nine conferences to explore solutions that inform decision makers and drive business transformation. Covering a spectrum of cutting-edge topics, from AI and big data to cybersecurity, cloud and more, the event provided a one-stop resource for organisations seeking to navigate their innovation roadmaps effectively.??

The AI and Big Data Expo we attended focused heavily on the transformative power of AI, with discussions centered around multi-agent AI and its potential to create tangible business impact across various industries. Our conversations were driven by ways in which multi-agent AI solutions are transforming operational efficiency, decision-making and customer engagement.?

Here are five key takeaways from the event:??

1. People are curious about applying AI across all industries?

There is a lot of interest in AI. Everyone wants to invest in it and understand its impact because AI represents an opportunity and threat for every business, but a lot of people lack a deep understanding of it. Everyone wants to talk about AI and believes they have the answer, but if you ask relatively straightforward questions, you find gaps. Many questions are 'Where have you done this somewhere else?' and 'How can I apply that to my use case?'????

2. The key challenge is about finding value and a starting point??

If you're not doing something about AI and competitors are, there's going to be a threat. People are still trying to work out the specifics, the facts and seek advice around what it means for their organisation or industry. There's also a lot of risk in this area. We've seen organisations invest heavily in AI where that investment hasn't really led to value creation. It’s very easy to spend money in the AI space, but it’s harder to drive value.?

3. The opportunity with AI is not just generative AI?

AI is no longer about content generation; the world's got enough of that already. Multi-agent AI is about process automation, core modernisation and customer engagement. It involves creating a network of chatbots that connect and keep checks and balances on one other to behave in predictable ways. AI is becoming more about reasoning, moving from understanding numbers to words to reach a consensus which then helps to reach decision-making more quickly and effectively.??

4. To understand AI you have to do it, not just talk about it?

While there is a lot of excitement around AI, there’s a lot of opinion without doing it. Something we make very clear at Endava is that if you take advice from someone on this subject from people who aren’t tangibly using AI, it doesn't mean anything. Everything's moving too fast. There is no received wisdom; unless you actually build things, you won't learn about it. At Endava we built our own multi-agent accelerator called Morpheus, which helped us to examine patterns and understand how it works and learn from it. You cannot learn this stuff without doing it; it’s how we improve it.?

5. Multi-agent AI is the next frontier??

At our stand we showcased how we are leveraging multi-agent AI to help clients accelerate their digital transformation journeys. We're still trying to build applications for people, but I think we've got a real differentiator. I don't see anyone else out there talking about multi-agent AI in the way we're talking about it. They talk about agents doing tasks, but that's a simplified approach that isn’t very valuable. I think we still have a position that other people aren't thinking about.?
