Every year in Indonesia, a moment awaited by millions of people arrives: Eid al-Fitr. The atmosphere in the country changes drastically as city dwellers prepare to "mudik" or return to their villages. Using various modes of transportation, both private and public, it is evident that the entire city population seems to flock to the villages or their places of origin.
The journey is not just a physical one but also a journey of the heart. In their hearts, there is a deep longing to reunite with family, friends, and loved ones. As time passes, the tradition of "mudik" becomes more than just a journey home; it becomes a symbol full of meaning. Every step is taken with hope, joy, and enthusiastic preparation.
In the villages, they proudly wear new clothes, celebrating this moment as part of an age-old tradition. A moment full of meaning occurs when they forgive each other: "Saya Mohon Maaf Lahir dan Bathin ya..." (I apologize inside and out totally). Muslims and non-Muslims embrace each other in kindness and peace, as if they have completed the sacred struggle of Ramadan. In simplicity and togetherness, they share joy and sincerity in seeking forgiveness and granting it.

Jobs and daily activities are put on hold, as if the whole year is dedicated to this moment: returning home to the village.
And most importantly, Eid al-Fitr is not just a religious moment but also a national holiday eagerly anticipated by everyone. Smiles, laughter, and happy stories flow from every corner of the country. They celebrate this precious moment with family and friends, strengthening bonds and unity amid Indonesia's cultural diversity.
