Today the team from 9 News Gold Coast dropped into #Mudgeeraba to chat about the Red Rose Foundation and their Red Bench project. A few of our higher profile city politicians had a few words about the issue of domestic violence on the Gold Coast. Our red bench is just outside the busy Mudgeeraba Aquatic Centre.
With 9 primary schools in Division 9, and about six private K-12 schools within about 5 minutes drive of our village centre, the stress of family life can be difficult to manage at times. It’s often these circumstances, sometimes compounded by alcohol or substance use, that lead to a higher risk of violent incidents plaguing the family environment.
The Red Bench project hopes to bring these conversations into the public domain, instead of behind closed doors, where we can help each other together. If you feel like your family, or a family in your street needs help, please reach out. There are local groups, psychologists, counsellors, and support organisations who can assist.
