MTV October Recap

The MedTech ConferenceBreakfast Panel Recap

This years The MedTech Conference was held?in Anaheim, CA?from October 9th to the 11th. Over 250 people who registered for our Breakfast Panel "Veteran Impact on MedTech Panel held at The MedTech Conference earlier this month. The room was packed full with those interested in learning how #Veterans make an impact and add purpose to the #MedTechIndustry.

Our event was moderated by former MTV Chairman Derek Herrera who interviewed our incredible panel of MedTech Industry Leaders: Erica Jeffries Purdo ( 强生公司 ), William Cambardella ( Intuitive ), Brenna Rheinhart ( Teleflex ), Nik Thompson ( Abiomed ), and Devin Owens ( Biosense Webster ).

"Veterans seek purpose and fulfillment from their work, and feel a sense of loyalty to their employers. Veterans are solution-driven, particularly in dynamic and unknown environments. We are not just leaders, not just followers, and not just trained robots; Vets know how to be contributing team members from any position. Most importantly there is a lot of room for growth to increase inclusion of Vets in MedTech." - Joshua Tallman, MPH , MTV Academy Fellow

This month we're excited?to highlight the: PrepMD MedTechVets Scholarship Program

As a part of this program, Veterans will receive access to PrepMD proprietary online career preparation Passport course material. An immersible 5-month asynchronous #onlineprogram that focuses on #cardiology training, but contains information important to the #MedTech industry as a whole.

Veterans have the ability to add participation in this program to their #resume and LinkedIn to increase their marketability. Individuals selected for the #scholarship will also have the opportunity to meet with PrepMD and their staffing division PrepMD Professionals to discuss opportunities for continued education as well as potential #employment opportunities within its organization or with one of its client companies.

This program, exclusive to the MedTechVets program, is made possible through PrepMDs providing scholarship funds to cover full access for selected participants.

A special thank you to PrepMD's Gregory Lisi, CCDS, CEPS for spearheading this #partnership initiative and supporting our program.

“Time comes and goes regardless of the momentum we have towards our personal goals. You might as well try and fail towards those goals rather than being successful at doing nothing.” - Tabitha Ogle, Fall 2022 Academy?

This month we're proud to feature fellow? Tabitha Ogle .Tabitha was a part of our Fall 2022 cohort, where she wanted to focus on the types of transferable skills she could bring into her next career.?She is now an?Associate Consultant at Greencastle Consulting .

3 Ways MTV Academy helped Tabitha prepare for her transition:

?? Networking to dig into the culture and work flows inside other organizations

?? My mentor gave me a healthy dose of reality on really pinning down what type of work I would thrive in.

??? Provided me with an abundance of support for the #transferableskills I want to bring into my next career.

Tabitha's thoughts on how veterans can help assist transitioning veterans:

"Reach out and connect. It doesn't cost anything to make an introduction and surround that veteran with the support they need. A lot of transitioning veterans feel like they have been left behind but rather it’s the opposite. The military teaches and gives you so many skills that make you desirable in the workforce."
