Executive Director of MedTechVets, Amy Reiter , attended the Washington Healthcare Innovation Council Meeting last month. She provided an overview?of the MTV?program to the attendees of the council meeting, highlighting?our mission, history and goals of MedTechVets?and took Q&A from the attendees who sought to learn more.

Additionally, the Executive Director of #WHIC, Jack Kalavritinos , facilitated a new relationship?between the Veteran Golfers Association of America and MTV. We are considering partnering on an MTV/VGA Golf Tournament?in 2025.

The WHIC event included a range of speakers who engaged with the attendees on national and Florida-based policy issues, new life sciences innovations and how AI-powered diagnostics are helping internists and specialists and how the ability to innovate can be negatively impacted by anti-free market federal proposals. Attendees heard from a variety of research and policy officials on where to go for data that supports their ability to pursue more #R&D for the benefit of all Americans, and new ways to communicate the costs/burdens of over-regulation.

Thank you WHIC and Jack Kalavritinos for the invitation to share our mission! We hope to be back next year!

“The hardest part of my personal transition journey was really trying to figure out what roles actually fit my personal experiences, skills, and values. MTV was really able to help me translate my military experience into a solid resume and learn what types of roles I should look into.” -?Troy Brown, Summer 2023 Academy?

This month we're proud to feature fellow? Troy Jabez Brown - MS, CSM . Troy was a part of our Summer 2023 Academy where he wanted?to learn more about the #MedTech and #LifeSciences industry because of opportunities in the space for Veterans to make an impact. He is now a?Hiring Our Heroes Fellow at ReefPoint Group .

3 Ways MTV Academy helped Troy prepare for his transition:

?? Translated military skills into a solid #resume

?? Practice interviews contributed to my success of becoming a Hiring Our Heroes Corporate Fellowship with ReefPoint Group

??? Time with industry leaders helped with #interviewsuccess

What attracted Troy to ReefPoint Group? ?

"One of the main things that attracted me to ReefPoint Group is the people, I’ve known several for a couple years now and they are all talented heavy hitters that I’m excited to be around. One of the other important reasons is the Vision - We Serve, We Innovate, We Empower. This goes hand in hand with my passion for healthcare innovation and my leadership motto of, Be The One - To Serve, To Engage, To Care (***most important) - Be The One. "

Troy's advice for those who are beginning the transition period: ?

  • Start early, I personally say at least 2 years.
  • Figure out what specific role/roles you want to do, this is hard!
  • Once you figure out the roles/roles, do a gap analysis to see where you compare against civilian counterparts. Do you need to upskill, get certifications, credentials, degrees, etc.
