MSME jobs up by 66% over 12 months

The total employment reported by micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) registered with the MSME Ministry has exceeded 200 million, based on data from the Udyam registration portal.

As of July 4, 46.8 million Udyam-registered MSMEs accounted for 201.9 million jobs marking a 66% increase over the past 12 months. Out of the total reported jobs, 45.4 million were filled by women employees and 23.2 million jobs were contributed by GST-exempted informal micro enterprises.

Delhi and Bengaluru have climbed the ranking ladder compared to previous reports. While all four cities scored lower in desirability, they showed strong performance in employer activity, highlighting good job prospects for graduates.


Reliance to launch India's first indigenous smart TV OS

Reliance Industries is testing India's first indigenously developed smart TV OS, Jio TV OS, for a potential launch by Diwali. The OS, based on Android, aims to compete with established platforms and will be available for homegrown TV manufacturers without licensing fees.

Navigating Challenges: Reinforcing the Integrity of Indian Spices

India, the world's spice powerhouse, leads as the largest producer, consumer, and exporter of spices globally. Over the past decade, India's spice exports have surged from US$ 2.4 billion in 2013-14 to US$ 4.2 billion in 2023-24, driven by robust global demand and India's unparalleled expertise in the spice industry.

However, 2024 began with challenges: Hong Kong's suspension of select spice blends due to elevated EtO levels triggered global scrutiny and recalls. Despite these hurdles, India maintains its commitment to stringent food production standards, ensuring quality and safety in its spice exports.

Bengaluru airport leads India's perishable exports for the 4th year

The Bengaluru airport recorded total perishable cargo exports of 63,188 metric tons for the year ending March 2024, marking an 18% year-on-year increase. It secured the top spot for poultry product exports in 2023-24, shipping 47,041 metric tons, and exported 2,050 metric tons of flowers during the same period.

India's regional airports are witnessing a strong increase in air traffic, with the number of passengers increasing between 30% and 702% YoY in 2023-24. Diu, Pantnagar, Tezpur and Prayagraj are among the airports witnessing significant rise in demand, boosted by the UDAN scheme and low air fares.
