Over the weekend authorities seized a cache of firearms and gun parts from 24-year-old Kaleb James Cole, an alleged neo-Nazi leader who was thought to be preparing for a “race war.” Among the seized items included multiple handguns, an AK-47, and a concealed carry firearm permit.
Police described Cole as a member of the Atomwaffen Division (AWD), an alleged neo-Nazi group, and claimed that Cole recently participated in “training and recruitment efforts” at “hate camps.” Court documents show that the seizures took place in September after Seattle police filed a petition to conduct the seizures. On October 8, an Extreme Risk Protection Order, a red flag law, found that Cole posed an “imminent threat” to others, but he has not so far been charged with a crime.
Per the court order, Cole cannot own guns for at least a year. Officials stated that the seizure may have prevented a “massacre.”
