M&S explores Midlands warehouse to support ecommerce growth
M&S is reportedly looking at a new distribution centre, as the retailer responds to growing online demand for fashion and homeware. The retailer said that a new warehouse deal would be part of its “strategy to reshape M&S for growth”. It is therefore always keeping an eye on what’s in the market.
The retailer is working towards having 600 stores, of which 180 will be full-line stores selling clothing and home products alongside food, and 420 will be food stores.
Chief Digital Information Officer announced Oxford hospitals
Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has appointed Dr Ben Attwood as their new Chief Digital and Information Officer who will start in October. He has spent the past 25 years in clinical training and practice with 10 years of experience as a consultant in intensive care and anaesthesia.
Amazon Web Services ‘to invest £8bn in UK over next five years’
Amazon Web Services (AWS) is to invest £8 billion over the next five years in building, operating, and maintaining data centres in the UK, the company has announced.
The technology giant said the growth of cloud computing and artificial intelligence was key to the increasing investment, which the firm said could contribute around £14 billion to the UK’s GDP and help support around 14,000 jobs each year.

eBay UK drops selling fees across all categories to compete with Depop and Vinted
Ebay UK is scrapping selling fees for private sellers across all categories, excluding motors, in a bid to?compete with fast-growing rivals like Depop and Vinted. The move means private sellers will no longer need to pay final value fees or regulatory operating fees when selling on the platform.
This comes after eBay UK scrapped selling fees for clothing in April, which led to a double-digit increase in listings for popular items such as jeans, shirts, and dresses, while keeping items out of landfill.
Almost a quarter of UK adults feel ‘digitally excluded’
Nearly one-in-four (24%) adults classify themselves as digitally excluded in some form and this highest among 18 to 24-year-olds (42%) followed by those aged 75 and over (30%), according to research.
Income is the largest factor, with 44% of adults with a household income of under £10,000 identifying as digitally excluded. Digital exclusion was also higher among British Asians (36%) and Black British (31%) compared to White British (23%).
BT Group reshuffles digital innovation leadership to centralise strategy
BT Group has undergone a leadership reshuffle with Harmeen Mehta, the company’s chief digital and innovation officer, departing. Among the changes at BT Group is Tom Meakin, who joined the company in April as interim chief strategy and change officer, taking on the role permanently.
“These changes are important steps towards simplifying BT Group and accelerating our digital transformation,” said Allison Kirkby, chief executive of BT Group.
