What is Multiple Sclerosis?
The National MS Society defines it this way: MS is an unpredictable disease of the central nervous system that disrupts the flow of information within the brain, and between the brain and body.
“Multiple sclerosis is a disease that impacts the brain, spinal cord and optic nerves, which make up the central nervous system and controls everything we do. The exact cause of MS is unknown, but we do know that something triggers the immune system to attack the CNS.?The resulting damage to myelin, the protective layer insulating wire-like nerve fibers, disrupts signals to and from the brain. This interruption of communication signals causes unpredictable symptoms such as numbness, tingling, mood changes, memory problems, pain, fatigue, blindness and/or paralysis. Everyone’s experience with MS is different and these losses may be temporary or long lasting.” https://www.nationalmssociety.org/

How is Multiple Sclerosis Treated?
Comprehensive care is key to managing MS symptoms, and treatment depends on the stage of the disease and the specific symptoms a person has. Treatments may include treating relapses of MS symptoms with steroids, treating specific MS symptoms, or treatment to reduce the number of relapses through disease-modifying therapies. Warning Signs for Multiple Sclerosis
Call your healthcare provider right away if you have any of the following: blurriness or shadows in the center of your vision, a blind spot in the center of your vision, sensitivity to light, or unusually colored/tinted vision. MS can occur at any age, but onset usually occurs from 20-40 years of age, with women at 2-3 times more likely to have relapsing-remitting MS. Medical history, including family history of MS or certain viruses, including Epstein-Barr, increase a person’s risk of developing MS. If you’d like to contact Lone Star Neurology to schedule an appointment for yourself or a family member, feel free to give our clinic a call or reach out online. https://lonestarneurology.net/multiple-sclerosis/

The Future of MS
We hope to realize a world without multiple sclerosis, and that future looks brighter every day. While the average life expectancy for people with MS is 5-10 years lower than average, this gap is shrinking all the time thanks to continuing research efforts around the country and the globe. If you’d like to help, you can check out the many resources offered by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (link above). A great way to get involved locally is to join Lone Star Neurology at Walk MS: Dallas 2023 on April 15th in Frisco, TX. https://mssociety.donordrive.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=donorDrive.event&eventID=1410

10 个月Sending you prayers, I was diagnosed in 2010 and seemed to go down hill quickly. In six years I could no longer work and had real problems with balance and joint pain. Brain fog was really bad sometimes. I took rebif and had a lot of problems and had to quit. I have been on techfadera (not spelled right) for a few years and have several side effects. I felt lost and decided to quit my meds due to side effects. Our care provider introduced me to Ayurvedic treatment. I had a total decline of all symptoms including vision problems, numbness and others. Sometimes, i totally forget i ever had MS. Visit Natural Herbs Centre web-site naturalherbscentre. com. I am very pleased with this treatment. I eat well, sleep well and exercise regularly. God bless all MS Warriors
