MRMC does first Farapulse cases in BonSecours Richmond Market

Today MRMC, BonSecours Memorial Regional Medical Center, became the first of our Richmond market facilities to bring Boston Scientific’s FARAPULSE? Pulsed Field Ablation System (PFA) to our patients as a treatment option.?? FARAPULSE? is the world's clinical leader in PFA used in 40,000+ patients and is transforming treatment for atrial fibrillation. ?PFA is one of the most promising technologies recently approved by the FDA.? It is a non-thermal energy that uses trains of high-voltage, very-short-duration pulses to kill the afflicted heart cells only.? Current techniques can affect surrounding tissues. This ability to only target affected cells without risk to surrounding cellular tissues is a real differentiator in care.? Success rates have been above 60%.? This technology is expected to be the new standard in ablation AFIB therapy.? ?Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common sustained cardiac arrhythmia, with catheter ablation as the most common invasive technology currently used to treat symptomatic patients. ?MRMC is excited to partner with Dr. Harpreet Grewal of Richmond Heart and Vascular to provide this new treatment option to the Richmond market.?
