We're living in a time of rapid technological growth, with artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics playing an increasingly important role in industrial automation. As technology evolves, the need for industry professionals is becoming more critical than ever before.

Michael "Sully" Sullivan and Travis Miller explore some of the key trends that are shaping the future of the hiring landscape in industrial automation and how attracting and hiring talent has been top of mind for hiring authorities.

As more and more industries adopt automation, AI and robotics play a greater role in streamlining processes and improving efficiency. Sully discusses how this has been a long time coming:

Knowing there was going to be a boom for all things automation coming into the 2020s, hiring began to increase little by little. When COVID hit, there was a blip in Q2 of 2020, but once we started coming out of it, a lot of companies who were slow to adopt automation, or were resistant to it for whatever reason, because of the labor shortage, caused kind of a perfect storm. COVID forced their hands where they had to automate. There was no way around it anymore.

Sully goes on to say that a lot of his clients saw an opportunity to get their products out to new industries and deepen their relationships with their current customers, in turn, seeing a need to hire more salespeople.

When 2021 came, his clients realized they didn't have enough engineers to design, deliver, and commission these solutions. They began hiring more engineers. With bigger teams forming by 2022, they started to see a need for more leaders. After a couple of years, Sully found that approximately 76% of the roles he filled had been newly created.

With these new technologies come new challenges that require skilled professionals to solve them. Hiring top industry professionals is key for any company looking to capitalize on new opportunities presented by advances in industrial automation and stay ahead of its competition. These professionals can bring an extra level of expertise that can help companies better navigate complex projects while ensuring success every step of the way. Additionally, companies must also invest in training existing employees so that they can keep up with the rapidly changing landscape of industrial automation technologies. By doing so, employees can stay ahead of the competition by having a deeper understanding of the latest trends and best practices when it comes to using AI, robotics, machine learning, and deep learning.

All signs point towards a future where AI and robotics are playing an ever-increasing role in our world. For businesses looking to maximize cost savings from automation initiatives while staying competitive within their respective industries, hiring the right people should be a top priority if it isn't already.
