Mr. Zeki and his life work!
My neighbor Mr. Zeki in my Village Narhisar owns this oustanding olive grove, The ownership certificate states that it is on 32.000 m2 of land.
Mr. Zeki was born 75 years ago, in this ruined stone house built by his father.
Mr. Zekis's mother used this hole in this rock to extract a small amount of early olive oil by crushing the first olives falling on the ground each year.
There are more than 272 olive trees on the land, all planted by Mr. Zekis's father and himself, so all trees are between 100 and 50 years old.
In a good year, Mr. Zeki's olive trees produce 5 tons of prime olive oil. Prices on the local market for quality olive oil are 50 US$ (1250-1300 TL) for a 5-liter aluminum container.
Harvested olives from this land have a market value of about 50,000 US$.
Olive oil prices are forecasted to increase by 6-8% yearly.
Yesterday the 23rd of August 2023 on one of the hottest days,s in one of the hottest years recorded, there is still water in the stream on the land!
In addition to the olives, there are a number of Fig trees, Grapes whines, Walnut trees, Pomegranate trees, and even an Orange tree.
This land is now for sale, Mr. Zekis due to his age is not able to work it as he should! Mr. Zekis's children prefer to live and work in the city!
