MR. POPULAR or MR. NUISANCE
It is simple really. Most people believe that the evidence of their popularity is in their “share of voice” which usually mutates into their “nuisance value”.
You must have experienced something like this. You are in a gathering and everyone is talking in decent decibels, making conversation with the people next to them or sitting across from them at a dinner table. Then Mr Ojo Chime walks in and we all know because he is yelling a, maybe funny, greeting across the room from the door. Or perhaps it is Mrs. Ekua Hassan. She starts from the door to say to her friend in very loud tones, “It’s a lie! You are here!?” At first it is cute, even though everyone looks up at the grating sound of these voices. But therein lies the issue. Why must yours be the “grating voice”?
There is dignity in silence.
There is dignity in silence. Truth is, the lower your voice, the more people are drawn to you to hear you. Have you noticed that the villains in most good movies only whisper and things get done? There is some mystery to people who are neither loud nor noisy. They are better respected, better spoken of and better admired.
Does it matter?
