Chris Pincher is the latest name to take on the housing brief Construction Buzz reports
Perhaps a poison chalice? Clearly UK government has failed miserably in solving our housing crisis for decades. Will the Rt Hon Chris Pincher consider the role of MMC, and more importantly once he has completed reading piles of research (including my blogs)? Will he will take the time to visit the most suited UK & Overseas OSM's to establish for himself what is achievable? Perhaps one of the factories we have partnered with that is building thousands of homes per year.
One question I have, how many factories, and more importantly which ones did the previous Housing Ministers visit? Of the 50 worldwide humongous factories we have visited and built relations with none have had the pleasure. So is the likelihood that they visited 2-4 in the UK and one other in Japan for their contribution to solving the housing crisis? Please tell me, I am dying to know. But seriously let us be positive and wish Mr Pincher the best of luck to not only sort out this mess but to also consider all the various modern methods of construction and indeed how this can be funded. Local Authorities need to be tackled first deleting red tape. I would be delighted as my previous offer to take him to our best most suited OSM's who have the production capacity and know how to deliver serious numbers using a variety of technology. I am at your disposal Mr P! And I am sure many more offers will come your way. Take a step out of Westminster and hop on a plane to the Baltic's for starters and we shall greet you with open arms, possibly not red carpet as we don't have any.
Construction Buzz report:
"He becomes the tenth housing minister in the last ten years and the fourth in the last three years. However, it was also announced that he will not be receiving the same cabinet privileges as his predecessor, as the Housing Minister post has been taken off the Cabinet attendee list. His voting record in the Commons reads much like his formers, constantly voting against raising benefits and for policies such as the Bedroom Tax. On housing, he voted for ending lifetime tenancies and for charging market rents to high earning council tenants.
Ali Akbor, Chief Executive, Unity Homes: “Esther McVey’s appointment was a strange decision, and seemed more like a reward for backing Boris Johnson in the Conservative leadership contest after she was eliminated in the first round."
