Mr Frost’s Road Not Taken
I wrote this in 2013, I was told upon leaving school to go and study English literature so maybe the fact I like it makes me unique. With the beginning of a new year you may find new roads...anyway, enjoy.
Mr Frost’s Road Not Taken
For some bizarre reason I was thinking about Robert Frost’s ‘Road Not Taken’ on the way to work the other day. I don’t know if you are a student of Mr Frost from school or University but if you are then you will appreciate and if you don’t know him then just enjoy or seek him out.
Anyway, I was thinking about him and this poem and life and then that same night I was watching an episode of ‘Elementary’ (you know, Sherlock Holmes) and they quoted the same poem therefore I knew that I had to share this with you.
It is a poem full of meaning which you can study and digest or simply just enjoy as it is – cheers,
The Road Not Taken
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim
Because it was grassy and wanted wear,
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

9 年We studied this in Year 12 English at length along with Frost's other work such as Stopping by Woods etc. Always thought them very introspective and interesting. Thanks for the reminder of his work
