MPERC Announces New Tariff Regulations For Renewable Energy; Adani Green Energy & TotalEnergies Forge JV for 1,150 MW Solar Projects and More...

The Madhya Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (MPERC) has issued new regulations for determining tariffs for energy generated from renewable sources. These regulations, titled “Madhya Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (Terms and Conditions for Tariff Determination of Energy from Renewable Energy Sources) (Revision-I) Regulations, 2024,” are effective throughout Madhya Pradesh and will be in force until March 31, 2027, unless extended or reviewed earlier.


Adani Green Energy Ltd. (AGEL), India’s leading renewable energy company, and French multinational TotalEnergies have announced a strategic joint venture (JV) to manage solar projects totaling 1,150 MW at the world’s largest renewable energy plant in Khavda, Gujarat. The Joint Venture will be equally owned by both companies.


The Uttar Pradesh New & Renewable Energy Development Agency ( UPNEDA ) has announced an e-tender for the supply, installation, testing, commissioning, and comprehensive maintenance of distributed grid-connected solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. The project, which also includes the installation of Variable Frequency Drives (VFD) for the solarization of 10,000 grid-connected agriculture pumps under the KUSUM Component C-1 Scheme, is set to be implemented across the state.


Torrent Power Limited (TPL) has filed a petition with the Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission (GERC) under Section 63, read with Section 86(1)(b) of the Electricity Act, 2003. The petition seeks the adoption of a tariff discovered through a competitive bidding process for the procurement of power from grid-connected wind-solar hybrid projects. TPL initiated this bidding process as part of its efforts to meet the Renewable Purchase Obligation (RPO) targets specified by the commission and the Ministry of Power, Government of India.


The Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission recently reviewed petitions submitted by the Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited (UHBVNL) and Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam Limited (DHBVNL). These petitions were aimed at determining an additional surcharge to be levied on consumers using the open access system for electricity in the second half of the fiscal year 2023-24. The petitioners sought approval to levy this surcharge until a new order is issued.
