Dear Premier Designate Kinew;
On behalf of the Board and the 124 Members of the Manitoba Prospectors and Developers Association (MPDA), we congratulate you on your election campaign and impressive victory on October 3rd. The voters have spoken and are looking forward to a fresh new style of government with policies and programs that truly help Manitobans.
MPDA is excited to forge a productive working relationship with your new Manitoba Government that builds on the strengths of our member driven organization. At the heart of our membership are small businesses who believe strongly in Manitoba and the exciting opportunities we have in the Mineral Exploration and development industry. With Critical Minerals in Manitoba we are optimistic that we can build with your government an environment that encourages Exploration and is more open to positive and meaningful partnerships with Indigenous communities Entrepreneurs.

We strongly believe in what you have said; “the economic horse pulls the social cart”.
We have many ideas to make that a reality in Manitoba and to help grow our Economy. We have had recent meetings with government officials but one of the best meetings was with MLA Mark Wasyliw, who appears to understand the important issues that need changing if Mineral exploration in Manitoba is to be able to compete effectively with other jurisdictions in Canada and around the globe. Mr. Wasyliw met with us at our September monthly meeting and we were impressed with his depth of knowledge of much of our industry. We hope to continue the dialogue and create some positive change in our industry with you and your team.
We are committed to growing the economy and working closely with Indigenous groups and communities. At our recent AGM the members voted in 3 new First Nation Board Members on to our Board of Directors. That is 1?3 representation.
Finally, for now I want to personally invite you to our 3rd Annual Reconciliation Gala on March 21st 2024. We would be more than honoured to have you as our Keynote speaker at this gala dinner where we also have Awards for community participation in our industry.
After you name your first cabinet we would enjoy meeting with yourself and your key ministers in Economic Development, Minerals and Indigenous Reconciliation.
Again, on behalf of all our members, Congratulations. We hope to work closely with you very soon.
Sincerely,
MaryAnn Mihychuk MPDA President and former NDP Mines Minister.
