MP3s For Those with Dementia UK
Hello, My Name is Norrms Mc Namara and I am the founder of the Purple Angel dementia campaign charity number 1189616. For the last two years in the UK only, we have been helping Care homes, Hospitals, Nursing homes, and people living at home with dementia enjoy life much better and improving their well being immensely whilst doing this for absolutely FREE. We rely solely on grants applied for and fundraising. So now we want to help you, also completely free and it really is quite simple.
For two years we have been providing individuals who have dementia with FREE MP3s players ( Approx 150 per month = ￡1,500 per month through wonderful fundraising efforts by our supporters and grateful recipients ) with music uploaded of their very own choice ( up to 15 to 20 songs ) We are very sorry but we cannot do any from the 60s / 70s / 780 s etc or any from Perry Como, or Tom Jones or Max Bygraves, etc, we need the individual song names and the individuals who sang each song. There is an order form attached. If the person living with dementia is unable to tell you what they are we ask all loved ones or primary carers to choose for them, something that is so very simple to do as i could certainly tell you my own mum and dad's favorites.
Then, all you have to do is fill in the order forms with a secure address to send to, up to FOUR Mp3s per care home to start with and once we have received feedback from you for the individual Mp3s we have sent you then we can talk about sending more out to help as many as possible. It made me cry. I set it up with Beethoven's 5th blaring out. Put the headphones on *DELETED* . Her face lit up. "Oh it's wonderful " she said. "Lovely" and is now sitting listening.

Thank you so much for the MP3 players. They have been a great success!
1. One of our gentlemen becomes easily bored and can, very occasionally, be verbally aggressive when confused. He has always been a keen music fan throughout his life and has a wide taste in music genres. Listening to the player loaded with a selection of his choices has become one of his favorite occupations and had a calming effect on his behavior.
Lady No 2 has been a devout church-goer throughout her life. Listening to her favorite hymns brings her a great sense of peace and, importantly, keeps her connected to her faith.
3. The gentleman who had the jazz choices have very much enjoyed his MP3. He dislikes some of the music enjoyed by the other residents and has greatly appreciated the opportunity to be treated as an individual by listening to the music of his choice on the headphones whilst the other residents enjoy popular music which he doesn’t like.
4. One of our lady residents sometimes finds remembering words difficult in conversation. However she has always loved music – particularly 50s and 60s music – and when she listens to the MP3 player she sings along and remembers all of the lyrics without forgetting anything at all! Everyone can see how happy it makes her.
5. Our lady is an enormous Cliff Richard fan and has met him on two occasions. She can sometimes become anxious and worried. Listening to Cliff’s songs on the player soothes her and reminds her of the happy times she had in the past.
