“If I wait, maybe it will just happen.”
Have you ever felt like that? In your career? In your life?
I was hoping the grass would mow itself.
I was hoping someone else would mow the grass.?
Others started my lawnmower and got it ready for me to use.
Literally. It’s sitting pretty in my garage.?
I then watched it through my window. I watched the grass.
I prayed for it to mow itself.?
How often do we do this in our career? An important bucket list item?
I’ve been hearing recently about fear, about anxiety, and stress.
I’ve experienced it too in my own way.?
Let me tell you about a couple of people who help others mow the grass and one person who has their house looking beautiful.
S, C, B
Have you ever met someone and said internally, “You are special. Your impact goes beyond this world”?
I have.?
The way these 3 men present themselves in their writing, their words, and their experiences made me think just that.
I try to tell them often the impact they have had on my life.
I’m just now hearing their stories.?
Can you imagine what others have felt that have known them for a long time?
S is a dad. A partner. A lover of Chick Fil A.
C loves to learn. Shows compassion. Parents often.
B is an entrepreneur. An old soul. A family man.
What do they have in common??
They help other people see their worth. That you matter.?
Others would probably say they are strangers or acquaintances to me if I told you how I met them.
I would tell you they are my people.?
K
K is one of a kind. She doesn’t know it.
I tell her often in my own way.
She started serving God and then made a career change.
Someone took a chance on her.?
I remember walking in a room by happenstance, sat down, and there she was.
Fresh eyes: not knowing what the world and our company had to offer yet.
That someone took a chance on her again and connected her to me.
They didn’t know it at the time, but she would change me.
K and I have known each other for a little over a year now.

She recently reached out to me when life was a bit tough.
When life was tough for me.
She didn't know it, but I couldn't wait to have our conversation.
Not to be able to talk about me, but to hear about her.
I told her often to connect with me to just talk on life.
I took the opportunity as did she, and we had lunch.
K let me share and then she shared back.?
We shared hard. 2 hours later, good food, and some promises.
She recently told me she completed a bucket list item.
I literally smiled ear to ear and then we celebrated in the only way we know how.
We made someone’s day a little brighter.
In exchange, I asked two people to help make her day.?
I watched it unfold last week and my heart almost burst.?
If I would have seen it all happen in person, I would have been crying.?
She mowed the grass.
She made her house beautiful.
How can we be more like the individuals above?
How can we give grace and receive it?
I’ll start.?
I’m mowing the grass.
Thanks to S, C, B, K and many others.
I don’t know what’s next, but I'm working on it.
I can tell you I’m building my house and making my yard beautiful.
Even if its hard.
Even if I watch and stare for awhile.
Build your house.
Create a beautiful landscape.
You deserve it.
Need help? Reach out. Maybe we can help each other.
Just a Note?
A song I heard recently that you may be able to relate to regardless of your stance on religion. Check it out:

1 年Lovers of Chick-fil-A Restaurants and Chick-fil-A Corporate Support Center: I had the opportunity to visit my friends from my "Just Married" article recently. S and I should probably take his family there sometime for an outing to say hi. It was my pleasure talking with Erin, the Austin Peay Highway location’s manager and her team. The bag below made me smile. Shared it with my team during a meeting. Thanks for all you do.
