SHI(f)T Happens!
It is Moving Season
As the summer slowly draws to an end, we all return to the realities of life. Albeit unwillingly, we are coming to terms with the return back to the office. Although for some, it is a welcomed relief from being home with our children all summer.
Making the move back to the office, it occurs to me that the same is happening for many companies - data-wise. With the extensive efforts that many companies have invested in remote working capacities at the start of the pandemic, many are forced now to reassess their strategy and resources.
The Big Shift
For all Chief Technology and Information Officers (CTO/CIO's), there comes a time when they have to deliver that one big migration from one server to another. There are many variables to consider for successful data migration with minimal operational impact.
The horror stories of how data got lost during the transition between servers, and clouds are enough to put many off the idea. With so many crucial factors to consider, how is a company supposed to keep up?
My Move
It is hard to believe that in the five years that I have lived in California, I have moved FOUR times. Up until my last move, I had always packed up my own things and rented a truck and painstakingly, make the move...ugh!!! In my last move, I saved enough money via my garage sales, that I wanted to 'treat' myself to a real professional move, with a REAL moving company.
I do not want this article to be about moving and my amazing experience, but I do want it to be around MIGRATING(content)! The first thing I did when I was going to move was to figure out what I was taking with me, and what I was?selling or leaving behind. I did an inventory of my contents and attempted to figure out what I was taking with me and what I was throwing away or archiving.
Considerations for a successful move
This happens to be the same thing you do when you are migrating your content.
Now that you have thought about all of those must-haves when it comes to your migration, the harder question next is, who.

Who is needed to pull off this migration successfully. Can you do it by yourself or do you set up a special task force within your company, or do you bring in the professionals with software because the value of the data is risk-averse? If your job is on the line, ping me!
Moving data into the cloud
Migrating to cloud content management tools makes a lot of sense economically, operationally, and in managing risk. However, some organizations still put off the transition. Delaying the migration keeps an organization from unlocking the business benefits of easy, reliable access to content currently locked in legacy systems.
Where Xillio comes in for your data migration
I describe what I do for a living, and equate it to moving (THERE is the tie-in!!) When your company has what is known as a "lift and shift" of?data and content, think of that as moving yourself.
For "lift and shift" migrations, Xillio has out-of-the-box connectors as a DIY service for less complex migrations that can be managed directly by a project team. Flip a switch, get a coffee, migrate your data.?
When your company wants 'white glove' service AND when it comes to migrating content and data, I am your guy. Simply put, complex migrations require much oversight to be successful. This should not be a strictly IT-driven mandate.
What benefits does a white-glove migration have
Migration is about making workforces more productive and achieving important business goals by giving business stakeholders the information they need, when and where they need it.
White glove service - For example, when you need a content inventory or a migration strategy for your active and inactive content. And while you are enjoying a coffee (or something stronger) on a sunny terrace,??
I'll be?your migration sherpa to guide your company through this transition, whether you are moving to Microsoft 365 or just about any platform.
