Moving forward
Sylvie Verwaayen
Multidisciplinary Artist at SylverDesign Fine Art @sylverdesignart
During Covid, I had the time, like many other artists, to go back to their studio or what I call my sandbox and play with what they had. I had been painting for so long I missed drawing, and so that is what I did. I experimented with coloured pencils and acrylics in creating portraits. I did a slew of pet and people portraits which ended up teaching me a lot. I threw everything I could in a few of them, coloured pencils, pens, markers, and acrylic. I also played with air dry clay.
As I no longer have a website (personal preference) I have my art organized in albums on my SylverDesignArt FaceBook page. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1673711342840968/media/albums
From that experimentation, I have created new pieces that are going to be in my upcoming solo art show. It will be a combination of portraits in paintings, illustration and sculpture. The show will be at the St Marys Gallery from Sat. Nov 9 to Dec. 31. I am working hard now finishing work and getting others ready to frame. There will be a opening reception for the show on Sat Nov 9 from 1pm to 4pm.

I have been working at the St Marys Station Gallery now for over six and and a half years and am greatful to have the exhibit here at the end of the year. As our curator Cameron has said, he has never had a show to showcase portraits in all 3 mediums.
I have been drawing people since I attended grade school and have continued throughout the years. It has always been an interest of mine and I am sure will be in to the future. As all shows at the gallery, there will be an online version of it so if you can't come in, you will be able to see the work.
