Moving forward!

As I come to the end of my time here at Goodwill Houston’s Veteran Job Connection Center, I have many emotions. I can remember back when I was hired in April 2013 as a Financial Literacy Counselor for the original Operation Good Jobs veterans program. Within a few months of being hired, I become Program Manager of the original grant and would continue until the 3rd grant cycle. Over these past 7 years I have been afforded the opportunity to serve over 1,500 returning veterans and their families, with employment assessment, nationally recognized credentialing, soft skills training, financial literacy and ultimately sustainable, gainful employment, I am so proud of our efforts.

Although I have had many team members over the past 7 years I want to say a special thanks to my most recent additions: Mr. Jarios Courtney and Mr. Paul Berryman, and to the young lady that will be taking my place, I know she will perform outstandingly.

Finally, to the Goodwill Houston leadership Mr. Steve Lufburrow, Alma Ybarra, Christina Petrossi and Ramon Solabi and so many others, too many to name, I say thank you for the opportunity to serve Houston’s awesome veteran community and thank you for your encouragement and support over the years.

As I move onto the next chapter in my life Goodwill Houston will always be remembered as a place of growth and empowerment.
