Ok so I am now officially sick of referendum outcome talk! I don’t like the situation, so please don’t humour me!
So what is the next move a week on?
Well I have a plan. With the last recession being only a few years ago and its challenges fresh in my mind, I have some great learnings, from time served in the construction industry, along with a great team who are up for the challenge and creating some great debate within my Group.
Here are the key 15 points with regard to what I have pulled together (sorry I am only giving you the main points as our strategy is top secret!) and what we are going to do going forward:
- Drive efficiency and productivity
- The team need to be behind the company
- Keep training people.
- Invest in Apprenticeships
- Innovate
- Focus on Quality
- Know your business costs
- Develop new products and services
- Don’t work for customers who can’t or won’t pay you on time!
- Look at new markets
- Sell, Sell, Sell
- Review your marketing
- Cash is King
- For every ￡1 spent what is the ROI?
- What is the vision?
Remember the definition of insanity: “doing what you have always done and expecting different result”.
I believe, as business owners and leaders, we now have to be boulder than we have ever been, so basically I am going to grow my Group and those in the way will get run over!
