Moving into the broadband fast lane

Figures published by www.thinkbroadband.com have confirmed that more than 19 out of 20 UK homes and businesses now have the opportunity to upgrade their internet connections to superfast speeds of 24 Mbps or faster - more than double what Ofcom advise is required by a typical family home.

It is great news for businesses and households that superfast broadband now reaches the vast majority of people. Improved broadband infrastructure will also help start-ups grow and thrive wherever they are based.

The Government must now ensure that areas without access to superfast broadband are covered. This does not just impact rural areas. For instance, only 50.3 per cent of homes and businesses in the City of London can receive superfast broadband.
