Moving Beyond the Ego
I have made a new routine that I write each morning. My intention is to move past my ego/fear and listen to my inner voice. I have found this journey to be both rewarding and challenging.
I realized as I was writing this morning that I have been stuck listening to my ego which keeps me in paralyzed in fear. It keeps me feeling stuck. It's a constant repeat of everything I have done wrong, all my past mistakes/failures and my doubts of the future.
As a woman in midlife, you find yourself shifting. You no longer have to be a caregiver for your kids, they are older, and it turns more into a friendship. You start re-thinking your career choices and asking is my career aligning with my current values and priorities. You start making health a priority and you start to question and define- "spirituality".
To do all of this self-awareness and evaluation work, I needed to quiet my mind which can be the biggest obstacle. If you don't quiet the mental clutter, you can't hear your inner voice where clarity is waiting for you.

Two things that I did to clear my mental clutter was free writing and meditating.
Every morning, I write what comes up for me without judgment or spell/grammar check. It releases what is weighing on my mind and gives me space to think and visualize. It also quiets the negativity, and I can hear my inner voice. Your ego is negative, your inner voice is kind.
When I meditate, I go into a different state of mind where I no longer focus on the negative. When I wake from this state, it feels like a reboot. I shut down my brain, restarted it and can hear my inner voice loud and clear.
This is just two examples of ways to clear the mental clutter and tune in to your inner voice. You find what works for you. When you tune into the inner voice, you will be surprised on all the information you will receive, and you will connect to your intuition. You are much more than your ego!
