THE MOVIES THAT HOOKED ME WITH THEIR SONGS
I was thinking about my all the time favorite movies. First of all, as a formal music critic, I have to admit that music in movies is the number one reason for me to fall in love with them. When you look at my favorite movie list, you will see they have all unforgettable songs, at least for me. But also they have something in common... At the end of the list, you will tell yourself this, but if you miss the point, don't worry I will slowly slowly remind you what it is.
MARTIAN / 2015
I love this movie a lot! I know many many ideas about Mars were just made in Hollywood, like the big storm in such a thin atmosphere and so on, but hey, it was so fun to watch. Musics rocked! I loved all the songs, especially David Bowie's "Star Man" used like a video clip in the movie. It was great!
WORLD WAR Z / 2013
Whenever I watch this movie, I still get so angry with the person who made its trailer! That was such a poor and bad bad baaad trailer! It lead me not to go to the movie theater and made me think for over 2 years why the heck Brad Pitt acted in such a bad movie! One day I was really sick and I had nothing to watch, I decided to watch this movie just to kill time! Since then, I am cursing the person who made the trailer! I don't know how many times I watched the movie, but this movie became one of the best of the best movies in my life. The funny part, I watch this movie to relax myself. Do you remember, at the end of the movie Brad Pitt was passing by zombies? He was so cool and sometimes I wish I could pass by all the negative minded zombies just like him! How about the doctor Fassbach's explanation about "mother nature". Check the scene :
Let's speak about the movie's soundtrack; Brad Pitt says, Muse members were actually reading the book "World War Z" when they were recording their latest album, "The 2nd Law" from which they took the songs for World War Z. Brad Pitt wanted the film's soundtrack to have songs reminiscent of those made for "The Exorcist." In the end "Isolated System" and "Follow Me" fit the movie incredibly.
TITANIC / 1997
I wonder if there still exists any person who did not watch this movie? Well if you didn't watch, don't read this! When the movie came, the first night I went to a movie theater. While I was just sitting on my chair, behind me, a teenager girl, who went earlier to the movie told her friend in a very loud voice this : "At the end of the movie when Leonardo Di Caprio died, I cried so much!" In my whole life I never glanced at someone with a murderer's look, but at that moment I did! From the beginning I knew the end of the movie, but still I enjoyed it. Since 1997 countless times I watched this movie, the last time when they showed the 3-D version, I again watched it without getting bored. Even our eyes are now catching old animation techniques, but still I love it! In this movie, beautiful pictures and a great love story blend with the unforgettable song "My Heart Will Go On".
LIFE OF PI / 2012
I don't remember which movie I was going to watch in the movie theater, but before the movie started, they showed this music video :
Again music hooked me first. But when I watched the movie I got shocked because they never used this song. However, they had many other wonderful songs again blended with beautiful pictures and colors! As a leading actor, director Ang Lee used an amateur actor Suraj Sharma. This movie was his first movie! Can you image? A zero experience young man lead the whole movie! Well well well!!! He was great! Ang Lee gambled with his decision but he made a jackpot!
28 DAYS LATER / 2002
I can say, for me, this is the first movie which came out with the story of a virus causing zombies. A shocking story, I loved it so much. Well, again the music captured me first! Do you remember the song? If you watched the movie, how can you forget this wonderful theme! John Murphy, what were you thinking while creating this song? The way they used the song in the movie, makes your blood freeze! While they were making the second movie in the series they were smart enough, they didn't give up from their theme song! "28 Weeks Later" had the same song. It was such a smart idea! I hope World War Z will not give up from their theme song "Follow me" for the movie's second part, which we will watch this June!
These are the movies I watch over and over again when I feel sad. While some of my heroes are running away from zombies, others are stuck on Mars or in the middle of the ocean. Maybe you will not like my taste, anyway everyone has their own way of doing things or approaching life, it's different strokes for different folks. I hope you enjoy my article. If you didn't, you don't have to bother yourself to hurt my feelings! Just try to be a nice person, it is not that difficult!
