Movie NFTs are here

Movieplex.io, a blockchain tech company for the movie industry, has collaborated with Cinema Libre, a distributor that specializes in indie movies, to release the first NFT film on OpenSea. The chain of choice for this novel project is Polygon. Movieplex.io claimed in its press release announcing the project that this is the first time full feature length movies are available as NFTs.?

The duo has already released three NFT movies on the marketplace so far. The first one is an environmental documentary called "Phosphate" that follows the story of Erick E. Crown, who investigates the mystery of rising cancer cases in the local population. The second movie, titled "Guantanamo Diaries Revisited," is a documentary on Mohamedou Ould Slahi, who was arrested in the aftermath of 9/11 on suspicion of being a member of the terrorist group Al-Qaeda. Lastly, the third film, titled "From Iceland to Eden," follows the story of an Icelandic couple involved in the drug trade. Apart from these initial releases, Movieplex.io informed us that they have over 100 movies ready that will be released in the coming weeks.?

Cinema Libre’s Founder Phillipe Diaz claims that, "NFT are the future of movie viewing, as right now when someone buys a movie on Itunes or Amazon they only receive a tethered file. With NFTs, the buyer gets to own an asset and sell it if they wish. Furthermore, upon buying a movie NFT the buyer instantly becomes a part of a larger community."
