Movement Is Key To Creating Space For Player On The Ball

One of the important things I work on with my players is creating space for the player in possession of the ball.

This is vital when we are working on player development because the player has more time to make a good pass with the right weight and timing and also gives them the opportunity to dribble the ball advancing into attacking areas of the pitch giving opponents problems of their own.

Players create space for their team mates by movement, dragging defending players who are looking to block passing routes and not allow the pass into dangerous areas. Support play is also key because if there are options on for the pass then the defending team will have to move to cover that situation.
