Movement Helps Patients with Knee Arthritis
Though it seems counter intuitive, a new study finds that spending more time moving around actually helps patients suffering from knee osteoarthritis. In the study, which included 1,873 adults with osteoarthritis of the knee, researchers found that patients who replaced one hour of sedentary activity each day with one hour of light-physical activity were less likely to have a slower walking speed two years later. Doctors of chiropractic commonly recommend adopting an exercise routine to patients with knee osteoarthritis, as movement is required for vital nutrients to absorb into cartilaginous tissues.
