The Movember Month
It is a beautiful Sunday morning this 1st of November 2020!
After a late Saturday night of celebrating the birthday of a dear friend over dinner and drinks, it was going to be a lazy Sunday morning. How else, right? But the morning sun and the lovely East Coast Park that lies on the other side of the condominium facility pushed me to rise and go for a walk. It was more than just that. Today is 1 Novermber 2020. It is a special day and it had to have a great start.
Each year, in the month of November, I embark on the mission to support the cause for men's health - the Movember Movement, when the MoBros and MoSistas, focus on driving awareness about the challenges faced by men around the world and to find ways to help all those vulnerable men out there.
BY 2030 WE’LL REDUCE THE NUMBER OF MEN DYING PREMATURELY BY 25%.
That is the target that The Movember Foundation is striving for. It is the only charity tackling men’s health on a global scale, year round, addressing some of the biggest health issues faced by men: prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental health and suicide prevention.
I've been supporting their cause for a few years now, though I signed up officially only last year. Yes, Movember is all about growing a mustache to create awareness about this movement. But since I occasionally sport one anyway, I do my bit by growing my hair and my beard for the entire month and also donating the savings to the cause. This year I will also do the 60km walk/run to support Movember.
Together we can make a difference for men's health – in prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and suicide prevention. Help me stop men dying too young.
Last year, thanks to many of you kind hearts out there I managed to collect and donate SGD 2750/- to Singapore Cancer Society thru Movember.
This year, once again, I have a target to collect SGD 3000/- and count on your support. Singapore Cancer Society is the beneficiary for all donations that you make.
You can help support the cause in a BIG way and make a difference.
- spread awareness and the message about men's health issues in general
- keep a look out around you for any signs of challenges faced by the men you love and care for. step up to help them. men need support too.
- scan the QR code and donate as much as you can to support the cause.
Your support will go a long way in encouraging me to continue to work towards making a difference; and more importantly it will help save lives.
