To Move or not to Move?????
To move or not to move? That’s a question I asked myself quite often, and I am sure a lot of my colleagues encounter this question on a daily basis as I did. What is it about our business that draws this type of ever-changing environment? While you might think of a few answers, it usually comes down to the nature of the way we are compensated for what we do. And while most loan officers can tell tales of being recruited and hearing about the “it” from what each company says they have to make one move? I don’t believe it is about the “it” But Rather the “Fit”
While I can’t speak about everyone’s “it”, I can tell you what was in Land Home’s “Fit” that got me to move. First and foremost, it is the people at Land Home and what the people believe in. Quite simply, they believe in the value of relationships, the bigger picture of a community and how those two parts intertwine in the course of a business transaction. That was my Ah-Ha moment to when I saw people actually care, where it is not just a loan Number or a file but about the family getting into a home. This implicitly implies trust, integrity, and most importantly a two-way exchange of value. Every company can argue that their loan officers deliver value to our clients and they do, where we differ is that we derive a distinct value from the smile and excitment that engulfs a face at the sight of a fresh set of keys or the bright eyes of child opening the backdoor to go play in their "own yard" for the first time and knowing we helped plant a family, and a good one at that, in the bigger picture of our communities.
Secondly, Land Home possess a deep culture. We were founded in 1988 by industry icon Brand Waite, and ever since Land Home has been building themselves into the nation’s preferred community lender. With that culture comes an amazing well of experience. We have several great managers in the Midwest Area that adhere to the same company values and show by our Growth and commitment to finding Loan Officers that “fit” within these same values.
My final thought, I started working in the mortgage industry in 1997 and my lending roots have always been in Minnesota. I can’t say I don’t feel a little like Lebron James on his way back to Cleveland, as it truly feels great to have found a home to service the needs of my community.
Mortgage moves are common. Most of them seem to be lateral, many seem almost lacking a certain forward progress. So when faced with the question—to move or not to move? My decision came to me in a different form… an evolution if you will. I am proud to tell you I didn’t just move to Land Home Financial, I evolved and connected with Land Home and found a work family and a career that I love and people I look forward to seeing each day. So if you are looking for place where you can call your co-workers family please call me.
Your Truly
