Move on...
During the past few months, I have taken on challenges in hiking and climbing a few of the heights of the San Bruno mountain range... and have also written about a couple of my adventures --- "with my cup of joe!" and "in your control..."
I mentioned to a very good friend Shirley Mercado, a recent hiking trail I discovered and wanted to trek. For the very first time, she advised me to be careful of new trails as one wouldn't know what lies behind the bend. She said, "there are times when you have to give up some trails, look for new ones and move on..." I thanked her for the advice and assured her that I will always be mindful of my environment.
The other day, I planned to climb another one of the heights of the mountain range. Halfway through the climb, there was a sign cautioning climbers to beware of falling rocks. It didn't seem to be very dangerous and since I was already half-way through, I deliberated long and hard if I should continue or not --- in the end, I heeded Shirley's advise not to push through and risk my life, but move on... and look for another challenge to trek in the future.
In life, we have to learn how to "choose our battles" and be selective of the problems, arguments, and confrontations we get involved in. Instead of fighting every problem, we save our time only for the things that matter. This means fighting the most important battles, letting go of the rest and moving on.
