Happy Friday! Each week, I'm sharing two nano health habits, a lesson and an inspirational quote to ponder on your health journey.
No one's yet discovered the elixir of youth. There is no one fix for a longer, healthier life. What we do have, though, are nano or micro habits that together make all the difference.
Two Nano Health Habits
Move to settle our mind: Have you ever been to the gym or gone for a walk and felt better afterward? Research has shown that regular physical activity improves mood, memory, and learning.
Movement tells our body to increase important proteins. They are called neurotrophic factors, and they regulate our nervous system.
So, it's not just a feeling. It's a biological reaction to movement.
Know your cholesterol numbers: Cholesterol is not our enemy. We need it for life as it's in almost every cell membrane. But too much of one type of cholesterol — known as low-density lipoprotein, or LDL for short — can lead to plaques in our arteries.
What's your LDL number? A blood test will tell.
One Lesson
Sugar in drinks contributes to millions more cases of type 2 diabetes and heart disease. A new study has quantified the number of people tipping into disease as a result of drinking sugar-sweetened drinks.

Not surprisingly, it's a big number: 1.2 million more cases of heart disease globally, and another 2.2 million people with type 2 diabetes.

One Quote
"Whatever happens, stay alive. Don't die before you really die. Don't lose yourself, don't lose hope, don't lose direction. Stay alive with flesh and soul, with every cell of your body, with every fiber of your skin."
