Move On
So many people live within unhappy circumstances and yet will not take the initiative to change their situation because they are conditioned to a life of security, conformity, and conservation, all of which may appear to give one peace of mind, but in reality, nothing is more damaging to the adventurous spirit.”
― Christopher McCandless
I see this quote and am quickly reminded about the path many people take that is already well worn with use. The decisions that keep people in their comfort zone rather than just beyond. Taking the easier of two roads is nothing more than settling rather than succeeding. Regret begins to play a role as time goes by and people watch what could have been rather than what should have been. Right now is the moment where we benefit by changing course by refusing to stay on the current course. There is a fork of opportunity that present us with decisions and shifts that are better addressed by a proactive approach and mindset.
Just Because it may seem easier does not make it easier. Taking the easy way out robs us of really finding out what we are made of in the long run. We have promise and potential yet our easy way out mentality drains our creative attempts at success. We want a different path yet we stay on the same trail towards predictable results. However, it does not have to be this way any longer. Now, a 360 degree turn may not be possible but what about making a slight shift towards something new. Why not try one of these possibilities?
1. Try something new: Yes, it will scare you. The fear, vulnerability, and uncertainty will escalate your senses and focus. Moving past your comfort zone may be unsettling yet we find out in most instances that this journey builds confidence and choice. We will discover feelings we have not felt and experience new sensations of hope and possibility. You have nothing to lose by trying something new.
2. Better To Shift On Your Own: Life has a way of happening. Many times we are in a certain place and quite unexpectedly, a situation forces us to move somewhere else. Our world is upended because we were not prepared and certainly not pleased at the sudden shift. It is much easier to proactively take steps to move forward and seize moments of change in our lives. This toughens our resolve and unexpected things do not seem so devastating. Better to shift rather than be shifted.
3. Don't Let The World Pass You By: This world is in constant motion. New technologies, inventions, ways to learn and grow. If we are not seeking to improve, the result will be a rut that stops growth and understanding. There is always something to learn and some of the most successful people around us are self-described life students. Don't sit on the sidelines when the action is right in front of you.
4. Take A Chance: Whatever that looks like for you, simply go for it. Whatever the result, the victory is when you say, Yes! I am going to give it a shot. No, I do not know the outcome but I do recognize the consequences of sitting still. Count me in and stand back as I surprise you and probably myself at what can actually be accomplished.
Bottom line is this... Do not settle any longer. Your pathway of success awaits you yet no one can walk the journey for you. It requires our undivided attention and engagement. Time has not run out because you are still breathing. Let's get started and remove the act of settling towards a journey of success!
