This chapter brings you on a journey across many spirited lands, from the Navajo Nation to the dazzling panoramas of the Rockies. Through the spiritual vortex of Sedona's red rock country and canyons-a cathedral without walls. Then across the wide-open Western corners of America, my compass will pursue. I had a precarious situation while visiting Utah, which prompted this chapter. My love of the Navajo nation, silver jewelry, and Sedona's healing vortex gave me the strength and background for this fictional chapter and characters.?

Barbara Dyer has scaled high peaks across the globe, rafted raging rivers, slid down glaciers, encountered grizzlies in the wild, and been chased by bison. A New England native, Barbara is a teacher by day and a writer by night.?Her inspiration comes from the kindred spirits of adventurous souls she meets along the way throughout her intrepid travels. She has led hundreds of people into the mountains during her adult life. After her days working in Yellowstone and guiding trips to our beloved National Parks, she began writing her debut short story collection, Mountain Fantasies.?

Passionate about outdoor recreation, Barbara has earned numerous awards and commendations for her leadership in the field. She hosted an environmental cable show, worked as a ranger, and served on the boards of several non-profit organizations. A portion of the proceeds from the book sales will go towards conservation efforts to improve our treasured public lands.??

You can catch Barbara writing by candlelight in her 1800s farmhouse on her antique oak desk. Barbara loves Native American jewelry, gardening, photography, country music, campin', and beachin'. In addition, Barbara (M.Ed.) holds several degrees and is a graduate of Outward Bound and the American Wilderness Leadership School. She and her husband are proud parents of two adventuresome young adults and are owners of two crazy rescue mutts.
