The Mount St. Mary's University Vantage Point Speaker's Series

Elizabeth Casey, Executive VP & General Counsel, FOX Corporation and General Counsel, FOX Sports, spoke recently at MSMU's Vantage Point speaker's program at the University's Chalon campus.

The long-standing series is sponsored by the University's Department of Business Administration and the Delta Mu Delta Business Honor Society.

Ms. Casey, who was introduced by Delta Mu Delta chapter president Julissa Gonzalez, encouraged the students to be willing to move beyond any hesitancy they may feel and to seek out new opportunities as they pursue their careers. "Don't let fear hold you back," she said.

She expressed the belief that work-life balance is the ideal, but you will always face choices. "Sometimes personal and family life will take precedence and at other times, career opportunities will," she said. Balance occurs over time, not moment to moment. Having an understanding supervisor in the office and a supportive partner in your life are important, too.

Ms. Casey had just returned a day before the Vantage Point from New Orleans, where FOX Sports had televised the Super Bowl. The standing-room only crowd enjoyed getting a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the many challenges of televising an event in real-time.

Adjunct instructor Neal Anderberg moderated the conversation with Ms. Casey.
