The Government of Gujarat?and the?Government of India?have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the establishment of the?Prime Minister Mega Integrated Textile Regions and Apparel (PM MITRA)?park in?Navsari?district of South Gujarat. The signing ceremony took place in the presence of?Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel?and?Union Textile Minister Shri Piyush Goyal.

Spanning across 1,141 acres of land in Vansi Borsi, Jalalpore taluka, Navsari district of Gujarat, this mega-integrated apparel park aims to not only boost the textile industry in Gujarat but also generate new employment opportunities throughout the state, including South Gujarat. The park will facilitate the integration of the entire textile value chain, from cotton to thread, thread to garment manufacturing, and finished garment sales and exports, all within a single location. This integration aligns with the Prime Minister’s vision of ‘Farm to Fiber to Factory to Fashion to Foreign’ (the 5F vision). Furthermore, these parks will contribute to India’s achievement of the United Nations’ 9 Sustainable Development Goals.

Addressing the program,?Union Minister Piyush Goyal?said, “This PM MITRA textile park is not a recent idea but has its roots back when PM Modi served as the Chief Minister of Gujarat. Recognizing the challenges posed by fragmented processes spread across different locations, the cost of our products remained high, and we struggled to compete in the global market. PM Modi envisioned a new approach in the textile sector that would focus on quality, global competitiveness, and promoting large-scale production.”

“The establishment of PM MITRA Park in Gujarat or any other state is not merely a because of favouritism but a result of intense competition and evaluation of multiple criteria such as connectivity, industrial ecosystem, state policies on industry and textiles, availability of power, water, and environmental impact. After mapping all the locations through?PM Gati Shakti Navsari?was selected. Also, nobody can ignore the fact that?Gujarat has established itself as a frontrunner in various aspects, including logistics performance, the Export Preparedness Index of NITI Aayog,?national startup rankings, good governance index, and ease of doing business. These achievements reflect the well-developed ecosystem in the state,” he added.

Speaking at the occasion,?Gujarat BJP Chief and Navsari MP, CR Patil, said, “The textile park is coming to Gujarat because the security of investment and the necessary business environment for the industry are available here. The state has an abundance of skilled labour, and compared to other states, Gujarat has surplus power available for the industry. I am very hopeful that after the establishment of this mega textile park, not a single person from Navsari will have to leave their home for work.”
