The most civilized decision is to drive away the car in the profiled car service center. It is easy and (I guess) safely. But the prices are not always moderate. The second variant — to address at the automotive garage that will be essentially cheaper, and in general without loss of quality. The third variant is from the series “hand made” but here not only knowledge and capability are needed for change the problem assemblage or repair parts.

What problem does unit all these variants? The experiment owner-driver will say at once — repair parts. For the outside man it seems, least of all the problem. One would think — the car model so and so, the repair part so and so, you need only to change this. But in practice everything is more difficult. First of all, there are original and non-original repair parts. The difference, first of all is in price, but sometimes the difference is in the quality.

It would seem, what’s the hitch? We choose the original part if we have the money to buy, and non-original if we have not enough money. It’s not all as easy as it sounds.

First of all, the availability of the original repair parts is well below. Sometimes the original repair part must be ordered and it is necessary to wait for a long time. The cause is that the seller orders himself a limited number of the original repair parts because, they are not available.

The second problem — the light-fingered sellers sell the non-original repair parts as original. It would seem, what’s the hitch? Compare the repair part number! But here suddenly turns out that you need to have access to the manufacturer’s catalogues to receive the original repair part number. And to receive access you need to buy this catalogue. There are of course other variants. On the Internet you may find unlawful variants and to receive access to such information. But it turns out that the website is semilegal (i.e. it is unknown who and how has created this website) and suggests this website with an assortment of one or two online auto parts stores. It means that you don’t have reliance. Yes, it is worth mentioning that the presence of such catalogues is the problem for any service center.

But wait there is more. When you have known the repair part number and when you have searched a website for data, you will receive enough strange results. The price for the same repair part will be different essentially

that will produces questions, even at the most modest customer. And if the difference in 10–20% may be explained, the price difference in 50% and more troubles. And if we remember that in most cases the customer must prepay for delivery “lot-for-lot” for a lengthy period, the situation becomes unpleasant.

It would seem that there are enough problems. But we didn’t touch upon such questions as “aftermarket”repair parts, interchangeability of repair parts for different cars (Don’t reinvent wheel!), secondhand, etc.

The most part of these problems you may avoid if we have in the public domain such information about repair parts, its use (to the concrete car models), its interchangeability, its price in the concrete region…
