MOTIVATIONAL SPEECH PRESENTED BY HAMZA WASIU TITLED:MY COUNTRY MY HOPE ON 5th Nov.,2015,AT NATIONAL YOUTH CENTRE,GARKI ABUJA.

Indeed it’s a monumental honour and privilege to present a motivational speck titled “My Country, My hope” on this historical occasion. Other fought battles, other engaged in the use of force, others destroyed their endowment for thousands of years before their dreams were finally actualized but mind was through diplomatic and peaceful negotiation. If I cannot celebrate my home my heritage, my destiny, my lovely home then who will? Nigeria is my country!

The pride of Africa, the most populous black races in history with an estimated 160 million population according to statistics, a nation situated at the Western Africa sub-region above sea level, a country blessed with both natural and human resources. A nation with a global capacity and potentials to be among the leading world economy, but where are we today? What really went wrong! What has happened to the legacy and visionary ideology of our nationalists, our heroes who sacrificed their yesterday for our today. Please may we observe a minute silence, in memory of our late heroes who time will not permit us to mention all their names, may their gentle souls rest in perfect peace “Amen”

Nigeria is the heavenly nation of Africa, where tourists enjoy their stay to its peak. Nigeria is of significant importance in the world because of its extraordinary geographical location, unique cultural architecture; stunning scenery, friendly inhabitants and vigorous nightlife that encourage tourist to visit this nation several times. Nigeria contains some of the most stunning cities of Africa, some of these cities includes; Port Harcourt, Kaduna, Benin City, Lagos, Abuja etc. Lagos for instance is the second biggest city in Africa.

Nigeria is one of the over two hundred (200) countries of the world, which I am a citizen. My country-Nigeria is an African country in the gulf of guinea, known for its natural landmarks and wildlife reserves. My country is a federal constitutional republic in West Africa, bordering Benin in West, Chad & Cameroun in the East, Niger in the North & coast in the south lies on the gulf of Guinea in the Atlantic Ocean. It comprises of states and a Federal capital territory. Noted geographical features in Nigeria include the Adamawa Highland, Mambilla Plateau, Jos Plateau, Obudu Plateau, the Niger River, Benue and Niger Delta.

From the historical perspectives, every nation have its challenges and short comings, ours is not an exception from others, colonial brutality, military interregnum, civil and political crises, leadership crises, economic, mismanagement and social jingoism. The West has experienced First and Second World War, but their ability to fix it made them great nations with world leading economy.

“According to Arc. Bishop Desmond Tutu of South Africa, that Nigeria has all it takes to be world leading economy, that nothing is wrong with Nigeria, is Nigerian ”. But have played significant role in Africa as big brother, Nigeria has been the centre mouthpiece of Africa. She has kept peace in Somalia, Liberia, Sierre Leone, Uganda, South Africa, Namibia, Burkinafaso, Ivory Coast, Chad to mention but a few.

Even though Nigeria is blessed with above, my country is still battling with its challenges ranging from selfish leaders, corrupt officials, poverty, illiteracy, Insurgency, security of lives & properties, decline in education system, natural disaster and so on.

Despite being blessed, and filled with many opportunities by God, these plagued with the a fore mentioned.

The hope we have for the future of our country is by raising the youth of today well in order for us to make our country the way we wish for it to be. In order for our dreams to come true for country, we must try to be upright and think positively about our country. To rid our country of the insecurity plaguing us, we need to start from the base to the top, they say "Charity begins at home". The home and society shapes a person's thinking, if a person has positive thinking, he will try to do exceptional things for his country that will make her better.

I have an assurance-the HOPE, which is an optimistic attitude of mind, based on an exceptional of positive outcomes related to events and circumstances in one's life.

My country is my Hope. How do I know? With all the vast lands, good vegetations, temperature, natural & human resources God has blessed Nigeria with.

I have an assurance of new country, where citizens will see themselves as one, brothers and sisters with a country without politics of bitterness, hate and greed, I cherish and desire with an anticipation a country where we can go to sleep with our two eyes closed. All these words of HOPE are realistic only if my fellow country men & women can change their orientation & perspective as a tree cannot make a forest.

Gone are the days that some things are not possible. The possibility of a female becoming president of country, an alien leading a country, Liberia today has a female president (Mrs. Helen sir leaf Johnson), United State of America today is presided over by a "black man" That corruption, insurgency, security challenges, poverty, diseases etc. cannot be a thing of the past should not be accepted. We are known as the most religious & the happiest people on earth! This has pt us on the verge of overcoming our challenges with God by our side.

With recent developments, breakthrough happening around the world, no doubt this has raised my hope of better Nigeria than we grew up to know our country.

My country having the most Natural & human resources is poised to be one of the leading tourist destinations around the world as almost all the states of the federation have peculiarities that tend to invite outsider. Recently our elections are now getting credibility and being accepted globally. I believe our educational system will be resuscitated whereby every child will exercise her right to qualitative education without abuse and other vices as seen today against the child well-being.

My hope for the future Nigeria as a country is that we all will effect the change through cooperation and unity that will unify all the tribes and ethnic groups in the country to work hand- in- hand together to achieve a greater Nigeria.

I love my country, a land flowing with milk and honey, a land of ragged mountains rages with far horizons and beauty of nature, a land of unlimited opportunities and promise. My Country, My Hope

Long live Federal Republic of Nigeria.
