There are 6 major building blocks (quotients) to long-lasting success; IQ (Intelligence Quotient) – how bright one is. TQ (Technical Quotient) – how able one is to get things done. XQ (eXperience Quotient) – how many of the requisite kinds of experiences one has. EQ (Emotional Quotient) – how well one handles ownself and work with others. LQ (Learning Quotient) – how deftly one adopts new skills, behaviors and beliefs. MQ (Motivational Quotient) – an individual’s inner drive to achieve, grow and embrace success. Swarm of books on the subject have yet not defined MQ perfectly (my own experience). Question is "MQ is intrinsic or Extrinsic?" Some mix MQ with EQ or IQ, that's wrong. Each person in this world is unique and gets motivation in different way. Motivation is required by all teams to drag minds towards common objective. Sometimes hands and feet move, but the hearts and minds of are not engaged.
Our MQ depends on many things like; Personality, Attitude, Circumstances/resources, Peers, Involvement, Past experiences, Expectations, Goals, Confidence, Emotional and mental well being and above all Mentorship. I feel, Motivation is intrinsic impetus requiring a solid thrust by an honest MENTOR. Motivational speakers and videos just enhance our chemicals in brain. We need a constant push by a realistic and practical source. Nowadays people are discussing SELF-MOTIVATION which required self-reliance and courage to fight against all set backs. Self-motivation also required some trigger.
Let's make a firm resolution that we shall get motivation from true mentors and will be motivator for all others around us, in good faith. While organizations provide equal opportunity to all, it is this MQ which differentiates a successful employee from the rest. So if you are an employee seeking success and growth, work on your improving your MQ.

3 年Very well said sir. Additionally, I also see enlightenment and understanding the reason why, could be a strong source of motivation! Especially as it relates to hitherto uneducated/illiterate, poor, and village groups. Where can this be categorized? Thanks and regards

4 年Individual must discover the source of motivation inside him. There are numerious factors but i felt confidence and receving an appreciation, encourages you the most. It plays vital role for motivation. Article is exceptionally well written. The theory of knowledge is focused at the quality of work that ultimately leads to success.
