Motivating the Motivators

“You can get everything in life you want if you will just help enough other people get what they want.” —Zig Ziglar

Every word in the above saying is worth gold. As a society, we can achieve more and realize our full potential once we start taking care of relations with those above us and taking responsibility to help people who are at par with us or are following us.

I joined #IIMA as an MBA student (#PGPX Batch of 2021-22) in April. For everyone, coming into a B-School and that to one of the best available B-School in South East Asia is a truly humbling experience. I also shared the same feelings while stepping onto the sacred campus of IIMA. But while I made my way to the classrooms of IIMA every day, the lines of Zig Ziglar kept me in a constant puzzle as to what is it that I can do to ensure that I not only earn an MBA degree at the end of the year but also make life long connects with all the 135 members of my extended family here on the campus.

I observed that while many of my friends were quite adept with the concepts as explained in the classrooms, there was a bit of uncertainty about how the placements would turn out to be. I saw this as an opportunity and prepared myself to take the onus of this responsibility wherein I could influence the preparation of all my batchmates and thus minimize their uncertainties. As an elected member of the Placement Committee of my college, I, along with my teammates @Uttaya Mukharjee and @Sitakant Tripathy, have taken upon this task to ensure that we would not leave any stone unturned in providing adequate, quality, and timed intervention for all the 135 batchmates. By doing so, we will ensure that we all will be in high spirits and fully prepared for the challenges that will be coming up shortly.

The day I graduate from IIMA, I would be happy to have earned my MBA Degree, but what would make the whole experience even more fulfilling for me would be the smiles on the faces of my batchmates who would have broken their barriers and achieved what they came looking for at IIMA.

By devoting my spare time on the campus to work for my batchmates, to help them achieve their goals – I would like to set an example that resonates with the lines of Zig Ziglar, and I hope I would be able to install this feeling of “helping others” in my batchmates who would like to practice this idea in the future roles, thus making a better society and a better world.

It takes a lot to handle academics and the placement committee at the same time. Appreciate your idea of giving back and the inspiration behind it. After all, we are all just walking each other home??
