Motivated to Succeed...

From low security to high potential in 12 months....Aboriginal man, Aiden Le Rossignol of the Arrernte People of the Northern Territory has just successfully completed a Certificate III in WHS and earned a 2 year employment contract for a Process Operations Traineeship with BOC.

Aiden, an Arrernte man from Alice Springs was not in a great place prior to starting his traineeship with Harness Energy and host employer BOC. He was employed in insecure casual work and decided to start afresh by moving to Miles with his partner and away from family support.

Motivation, Attitude & Support that counts

With the help of his employment agency, Aiden?successfully applied - through SEEK - for a WHS traineeship with Harness Energy. With the authentic mentoring support in and outside of work, he achieved a Certificate III in Work Health & Safety.?

He has rewarded his Mentor, Harness, Supervisor and BOC by demonstrating a sustained willingness to learn and apply himself in the workplace. Sharron, his Mentor, indicated that Aiden’s organisation and proactive communications were valuable in ensuring he gained the most from his experience.?Aiden’s efforts and ‘can do’ attitude means he now secured a career building opportunity at BOC for the next two years with a new qualification and traineeship. ?

The right Support

Aiden’s words indicate just how important the rounded support has been from both the individuals and organisations involved...

“During the last 12 months of my traineeship with Harness and BOC, the knowledge I have gained from both companies has been immeasurable. I have learned things and acquired new skills I’d never thought I’d have and even some I didn’t even know existed. My site supervisor from BOC, Steve Luckraft, has helped me strive and accomplish all requirements I have had and I couldn’t be more thankful. I have also had constant support from my Mentor Sharron Jackson for situations inside and outside of work. I am very excited to grow more and learn as much as I can in the next 2 years as I have signed on to complete a Plant process operator certificate”.?

The Right Organisation

Steven Luckraft, Condamine Site Supervisor, BOC, had this to say...

“Aiden has come a long way in the 12 months he has worked at BOC. Coming from a background with no industry experience Aiden has developed into an essential part of the site. His willingness to listen, learn and work hard each day has seen him develop the skills necessary to issue permits onsite, manage isolations and also carry the responsibilities that come with being the emergency on call contact after hours. This along with other attributes he brings to the workplace has seen him secure a further 2 year Process Operations Traineeship and I look forward to watching him continue to develop over the next few years.”?

The Right Path

Aiden is undeniably appreciative to be now on a path that is right for him with an opportunity to achieve his potential for himself and his family.?Aiden indicated how much he appreciated the opportunity this traineeship provided and is excited for the future. Congratulations Aiden!
