Motion Sickness and VR

No matter how many times we've seen others debunk this myth, it's still flying around. So, today once again we're setting the record straight. Does VR make you sick? Does everyone get sick while in VR? Why can VR experiences cause motion sickness?
Motion sickness in VR can happen and it usually involves a disconnect between your ears and your eyes, your muscles and a general feeling of discomfort. However, good quality and well-developed VR experiences should not make everyone sick the second they get into the headset. For example, keeping anything you output in VR running at a solid minimum 72 frames per second will combat this issue.
However, it is important to say that people that usually suffer from motion sickness in other circumstances, for example in a car or moving vehicle, then may still be affected by it in VR, even if the development processes passed quality-check. Luckily, this involves only 1 in 3 people. But hey, what if you do suffer from motion sickness in other situations but want to experience VR? There is an option for you, a sitting-down experience might be a solution, minimising overall body movements but still entering the simulation.
A few months back, we asked our Creative Director ???? Nick V Wilson to explain to us where the development process of a VR experience can help to minimise it and, in some cases, completely avoid it.
